Thermal Uniformity Survey (TUS), also known as Temperature Uniformity Survey, is the process of testing and mapping the temperatures inside an oven / autoclave / heat treat chamber. The process entails the addition of a number of temperature sensors, typically thermocouples, and controlling the oven through a ramp and soak profile, measuring the uniformity of all areas in the oven for adherence to specifications.

The measurement is typically performed with recorders for periodic validation, or by control equipment for continuous validation and product tracking.

Validation is performed with two types of software, either a dedicated Thermal Uniformity Survey software product, or by a data acquisition and reporting solution.

Ocean Data Systems is expert in both solutions. For general purpose thermal uniformity surveys, Ocean Data Systems offers Dream Report, a data acquisition and reporting solution with purpose built functionality to address TUS reporting.

In the case of TUS validation software, Ocean Data Systems has developed an OEM solution used by two of the leading recorder companies, Eurotherm and Yokogawa. The OEM TUS solution will connect to recorder log files and will generate TUS reports directly from them.  Dream Report will also connect with these recorder solutions and can communicate with them in real-time, and also read their historic data.
